Oregon Chai Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp. (one package) Yeast
  • 2 tbsp. Packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Warm water
  • 1 tbsp. Salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Lemon extract
  • 2/3 cups Water
  • 1 1/3 cups Oregon Chai The Original™ Chai Tea Latte Concentrate
  • 3 tbsp. Melted butter
  • 1 cup Assorted herbs (parsley, sage, rosemary, etc.)
  • 5-6 cups Flour

Directions:

In a small bowl, combine yeast, sugar and water. Set aside until yeast has dissolved. In large bowl, combine salt, lemon extract, water, Original concentrate, butter and herbs. Add yeast mixture. Gradually add flour until you cannot add any more. Place dough on floured board and let rest 10 minutes. Knead until smooth, adding more flour as necessary. Return to greased bowl and let rise until double. Punch down and let rise again. Divide into 2 loaves. Put each loaf in greased bread pan. Let rise about 45 minutes. Bake 350*, 45-50 minutes, until golden brown on top. Remove from oven and remove immediately from pans. Mix together 1 egg & 1/2 tsp. oil and brush top of bread. Yield 2 loaves
